About the event

The presentation examines the 1953 Clifton Hall (Black Harry Tunnel) Disaster and the part Carol's grandad, a retained fireman, played in its aftermath.  Drawing on personal and newspaper photographs, along with a variety of contemporary reports, it traces events from the morning of 13 April 1953 through the disaster on 28 April 1953, and explores the subsequent aftermath, inquest, and lasting legacy.With over 26 years of family history experience Carol Lee is a family historian with a strong academic background who has turned a beloved hobby into a career she truly loves.  Holding a BA (Hons) degree in History, she has researched extensively using a wide variety of sources.

 

As a speaker, Carol presents talks on practical family history research techniques, personal family history discoveries and local history topics.  Her aim is to make family history accessible, enjoyable and rewarding for audiences of all levels of experience, combining sound…
